Free MyRapid cards for racers

KUALA LUMPUR – The sponsored cards worth RM20 each will be used by the 500 participants of the ‘New Straits Times Streets Race’.
SYARIKAT Prasarana Negara Bhd (Prasarana) is sponsoring 550 MyRapid cards for participants taking part in the inaugural New Straits Times (NST) Streets Race.
The cards, valued at RM20 each, will be used by participants to board the light rail transit (LRT) and monorail during the NST Streets Race, which takes place this Sunday.
Rangkaian Pengangkutan Integrasi Deras Sdn Bhd (RapidKL) Kelana Jaya Line chief operating officer Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin presented the sponsorship worth RM16,000 to NST managing editor Datuk Nuraina Samad at Balai Berita recently. “We are excited to be involved and we hope that the participants will familiarise themselves with MyRapid card,” said Ahmad Nizam.
The NST Streets Race, which is an adventure race and a treasure hunt combined, requires participants to travel only on foot and LRT or monorail within the city. They will be racing in teams of four. A total of 125 teams have signed up for the race.
The teams stand a chance to win cash prizes totalling RM33,000. The first team to complete the race will win RM10,000, the second team RM8,000 and the third RM5,000. Ten consolation prizes of RM1,000 each will also be given. There are also lucky draw prizes up for grabs, including stays at top hotels.
Also present at the sponsorship presentation was Streets associate editor Chan Cheng Tuan, who said the race is a way to thank the newspaper’s readers for their support.
