Good response to English conference
JOHOR BARU – A group of English teachers from government and private schools will attend the 4th English Language Conference 2012 at the M Suites hotel here next week.
The group is sponsored by the ELS Language Centres, Malaysia, through its School Partnership Programme.
Conference organising chairman Vincent D’Silva said there would be prizes galore for teachers during the three-day event from next Tuesday.
“Teachers who sign up stand to take home attractive gifts and several other goodies, courtesy of our official media partner, New Straits Times, Oxford Fajar and Permas Publications.”
Themed “Revitalising the Teaching-Learning Link”, the event is organised by the Johor Baru English Language Teaching (Jelta), a non-governmental organisation, and the Johor Education Department.
The M Suites hotel is sponsoring the venue, meals and accommodation for the event’s speakers.
D’Silva said seven plenary papers and a number of parallel sessions will be held.
NST group editor Datuk Syed Nadzri Syed Harun will deliver the keynote address, while NST’s editorial consultant Balan Moses will deliberate on the use of school newsletters in teaching English.
In view of the overwhelming response to the event, the closing date for participants to sign up has been extended to Saturday.
The registration fee is RM100 per person. For details, call Jelta managing director Adib Esa at 07-2358534 or Annette 016-7528767.
