KUALA LUMPUR – Media Prima Bhd has once again emerged as the most outstanding Malaysian company with the best overall corporate governance as well as achieving high ranks in various categories in the latest Asiamoney Corporate Governance Poll 2012.

The country’s leading fully integrated media group received awards for best company for disclosure and transparency; responsibilities of management and the board of directors in the country; shareholders’ rights and equitable treatment; and investor relations in Malaysia.

Chairman Datuk Johan Jaaffar said the awards and accolades received by the company are a testament to its relentless effort to continuously set industry standards.

Cosmetics firm, FB groups raise funds

KUALA LUMPUR – CONCERNED over the plight of beleaguered civilians in Palestine, a cosmetics company and two Facebook groups have organised a charity auction to help raise funds for Tabung Kemanusiaan Palestin Media Prima Berhad.

Ushine Heatlh and Beauty, Malaysia Cook Along Team (MyCat) and Cantik Dalaman & Luaran Facebook groups collaborated for the one-day event and raised RM30,000 from auctions and booth sales.

MELAKA – Lebih 50 sukarelawan Harian Metro (HM) berkunjung ke 10 rumah keluarga miskin di sekitar mukim Kesang, Muar, Johor bagi menyampaikan sumbangan kepada keluarga itu dalam program Teman Sahur sempena Program Titipan Kasih Khas Ramadan HM, tengah malam tadi.

Pengerusi Titipan Kasih yang juga Pengarang Eksekutif (Berita) HM, Othman Mamat berkata, lebih bermakna rombongan itu turut bersahur bersama penghuni rumah terakhir dikunjungi.

Top cop leads state honours

KOTA KINABALU: STATE police commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib led 240 recipients of honours from Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at an investiture in Istana Negeri here yesterday.

Hamza and 32 others received the state’s second highest award — the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which carries the title Datuk.

Other PGDK recipients include New Straits Times Press group managing editor Datuk Abdul Jalil Hamid, Immigration Department Director Datuk Mohammad Mintek, Rural Development Corporation general manager Datuk Basrun Datu Mansur and Sabah Housing Tribunal president Datuk Ahmad Sedik.

Media Prima gets RAM backing

RAM Rating Services Bhd has assigned Media Prima Bhd’s proposed RM500 million commercial papers/medium-term notes a preliminary long-term rating of AA2 and a short-term rating of P1 with a stable outlook.

Reflecting on Media Prima’s strong market position in the media industry and its solid financial profile, the rating agency’s P1 rating of the company’s RM180 million commercial papers programme (2007/2014) was re-affirmed.

RAM Rating Services sees Media Prima as highly diversified, with interests in a broad spectrum of media such as free-to-air television broadcasting, newspaper publication, radio broadcasting, outdoor advertising and as content creation and online portals.
