» On January 1, Berita Harian group editor, Datuk Hishamuddin Aun, takes on his appointment as Group Editor-in-Chief of New Straits Times Press (M) Berhad. Hishamuddin, 46, who took over from Datuk Kalimullah Hassan, 46, will retain his post as Berita Harian Group Editor.

» On January , Datuk Kalimullah Masheer Hassan appointed non-executive deputy chairman of NSTP.

» On March 3, leading media group, Media Prima Bhd, and its print subsidiary, The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd, launched a unique multimedia campaign that will enable advertisers to get maximum coverage and reach consumers more effectively. The campaign, known as the Media Combo packages, allows advertisers to cross-market and cross-sell through advertisements in the electronic, print and radio platforms under the group.

» On June 7, NSTP e-Media Sdn Bhd, the electronic arm of the New Straits Times Press, kicks off its Kicks World Cup interactive mobile and web service in conjunction with World Cup 2006. Through its mobile and web services, NSTP e-Media offers up-to-the minute updates and news on the World Cup matches.

» On June 15, The NSTP-PwC Malaysian Humanitarian Award 2006 was launched. This year’s theme is “Humanity, Unity, Harmony”, chosen to reflect on our diverse culture and 50 years of independence.

» On June 27, The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP) announced several changes in its board, including the retirement of its long-serving chairman, Jeneral (b) Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali Che Mat. Ghazali, 75, was appointed independent non-executive director on January 1 1988 and named chairman the following month. NSTP appointed Datuk Mohamed Jawhar Hassan as non-executive chairman, succeeding Ghazali.

» On August 25, the “Road to Nationhood - 1957” photo exhibition at Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) was launched by Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. The exhibition, jointly organised by The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) and Bandar Raya Development Berhad (BRDB), is in conjunction with the Merdeka Day
