1976
» On October 4, Malaysia's only business and financial daily was launched. It was a 12 page paper and sold at 50 sen with Kevin Rafferty as its first Editor.
1977
» On August 15, Henry Chang Heng Hwa became Editor.
1978
» A.Kadir Jasin, who was the News Editor, won the coveted Mitsubishi / Press Foundation of Asia 'Editor of the Year' award.
» On February 20, Business Times took over the Shipping Pages from New Straits Times and called the pullout Shipping Times.
1981
» Charles Chan became the News Editor. He was accorded the Mitsui Award for his flair in writing development reports covering international trade and investment.
1983
» Business Times won "The Run For Money Kodak Newspapers Colour Reproduction" contest in the "small offset" category.
» Hardev Kaur, who was the Specialist Writer, was awarded the Mitsubishi Press Foundation of Asia 'Editor of the Year' award.
1984
» Business Times won the award for excellence in reporting on population issues. The award was presented by the Washington-based Population Institute.
1986
» On June 30, Business Times masthead revamped.
1987
» Business Times won "The Run For Money Kodak Newspaper Colour Reproduction" contest in the "small offset' category for the second time.
1989
» In April, Business Times price was increased from 60 sen to 75 sen.
» On May 6, Business Times won "The Run For Money Kodak Newspaper Colour Reproduction" contest in the "small offset' category for the third time.
» Ahmad Rejal Arbee became Editor of the Business Times.
» In November, Shipping Times new format was introduced.
1992
» Mohamad Nor Mutalib became the Chief Operating Officer of Financial Publications Sdn Bhd, publisher of Business Times.
» On February 1, Hardev Kaur became Editor of the Business Times.
» On June 1, launch of the newly revamped Business Times. The 3 sections introduced were :
- Home News, ASEAN, Asia Pacific and World News.
- 12 page pullout of Companies and Market.
- Shipping Times - news on transport and communications. Included one weekly graphic presentation of business and financial statistics called "Financial Snaps".
» On July 9, Financial Publications Sdn Bhd, changed its name to Business Times (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
1994
» Business Times and American Express teamed up to launch "Malaysia's CEO of the Year Award" to recognize corporate leaders' contributions to the country and economy.
1996
» On November 4, "Enterprise 50" programme was launched. Enterprise 50 was an annual award programme jointly organised by Business Times, Andersen Consulting (later known as Accenture Sdn Bhd) and the Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC). This award recognised the achievements of Malaysia's enterprising homegrown companies which were well positioned for the future. 50 winners were selected from amongst the nominations received, and the evaluation was based on the companies' management and financial performance.
1998
» Business Times successfully pioneered the integration of editorial and advertising systems to a single automated digital work process flow, from input of stories and ad bookings to output of full page negatives, complete with editorial and ads, both in black & white and colour.
» On August 4, Ahiruddin Attan became Editor, while Hardev Kaur was appointed Editor-at-Large (NSTP).
2000
» In June, Business Times was re-launched with an attractive new look, to be complete, in-depth and authoritative. Besides sporting a new look, the newspaper also introduced some significant changes in its content. New features included a separate section on Companies and Markets which offered readers, among others, analyses by experts in various fields, including leading stockbrokers. There was also the daily Industry Focus which included contributions from captains of industry, and a new section called @BT which covered the information technology revolution and how it was changing the way people lived and do business.
2001
» On September 3rd, Business Times was published using the GN3 system.
2002
» On March 18, Business Times stories came in two sections: the main section and the Shipping Times pullout which included world news
» On May 24/25, Business Times final issue as a financial daily
» On June 1, Business Times was incorporated into New Straits Times, combining the best in business reporting with New Straits Times' daily offering of local and world news. Business Times' masthead and character were maintained
» On June 1, Zainul Arifin Mohammed Isa was appointed Editor.
