Police nab two, seize 19,965 pirated VCDs, DVDs

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested two men and seized 19,965 pirated VCDs and DVDs in a raid on a business premises in Bandar Seri Permaisuri here early today.
Deputy Cheras police chief Supt Abdul Rahim Hamzah said the men, aged 32 and 35, were nabbed while taking two plastic bags containing 81 pirated VCDs and DVDs out of the second-floor unit of Plaza Dwi Tasik.
"We have been monitoring their activities for a week. Prior to the raid, both men were seen arriving in a black Honda Civic car, entering the unit and coming down 50 minutes later with two black plastic bags," he told a news conference here today.
Abdul Rahim said the discs were worth an estimated RM100,000 and were believed to be for sale at night markets in Cheras.
Both suspects had been remanded for three days to facilitate the investigation.
He said one of the suspects was arrested last year for a similar offence and his case was still pending in court. -- BERNAMA
