Farrah Naz Karim

Farrah Naz Karim is the Group Editor of New Straits Times (effective September 15, 2022).

Farrah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications from UiTM, and has served NSTP in various capacities since 2000, including as NST Putrajaya Bureau Chief, Associate Editor (News and Current Affairs), and Executive Editor (Commercial and Integration).

Most recently, she was attached to Media Prima Television Networks as an Executive Producer for Current Affairs Programmes.

Her results-oriented approach to journalism earned her back-to-back wins of the prestigious Malaysian Press Institute’s Kajai Award in 2014 and 2015.

Farrah also won several other coveted awards, including MPI’s Best News Reporting, and Best Investigative Journalist, both in 2013, Best Columnist in 2016, and the Best News Report award in 2018.

In 2018, Farrah earned international recognition when she won the prestigious Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) award in the Breaking News category, as well as the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) award in 2017 for Best Newspaper Feature Article.

A certified Human Resource Development Corporation trainer, Farrah is also the current Exco Member of the National Press Club of Malaysia.

She has represented the country in various local and international media events, forums, and discourses as a speaker.
